Development Lead - NetballSmart & Player Development

Whangārei Netball Centre is seeking a Development Lead to champion participation, player development, and NetballSmart delivery across our region.

This role is responsible for leading Player Development Programmes, supporting schools and clubs, embedding injury prevention and wellbeing principles, and strengthening our community capability.

Working closely with the General Manager and key stakeholders, the Development Lead plays a vital role in growing the game, supporting our pathways from FutureFERNS through to performance levels, and ensuring high-quality development experiences for players, coaches, and umpires.

Board Member - Volunteer Role 

Whangārei Netball Centre is seeking applications from individuals who are passionate about community sport and want to contribute at a governance level.

As a Board Member, you will help set the strategic direction of the Centre, oversee financial and organisational performance, and support the long-term sustainability and growth of netball in Whangārei and across Northland. This is a voluntary role that plays a vital part in ensuring our Centre continues to provide inclusive, high-quality opportunities for players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and the wider community.

At the 2026 Annual General Meeting, there are:

  • Three (3) Appointed Board Member position available, and
  • Three (3) Elected Board Member positions available.

The Whangārei Netball Centre Board consists of:

  • Up to three (3) Appointed Board Members, who are selected by the WNC Board Appointment Panel, and
  • Up to four (4) Elected Board Members, who are elected by members at the Whangārei Netball Centre AGM.

Applications for both Elected and Appointed Board Member positions must be received to the General Manager on manager@whangareinetball.co.nz no later than 5.00pm on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

Games Official Committee – Volunteer Role

Love netball? Passionate about supporting our officials?

Whangārei Netball Centre is seeking volunteers to join our Games Officials Committee for the 2026 season and beyond.

This committee plays a key role in supporting our umpiring community — helping to create positive experiences for officials, strengthen officiating standards, and ensure our competitions run smoothly across all grades.

You don’t need to be an experienced umpire. We’re looking for people who:

  • Enjoy working as part of a team

  • Care about community sport and positive environments

  • Are willing to support, encourage, and help develop others

Committee members work collaboratively, with roles shared based on skills and interest. The time commitment is seasonal and flexible, with support from the Umpire Convenor and Whangārei Netball Centre staff.
