Competition Details
Dates: Wednesday nights running from 8 October 2025 – 10 December 2025
Time/Format
- 4 x 10-minute quarters (1-minute quarter time breaks & 2-minute half time break)
- 6.00pm round & 6.50pm round
Equipment
- Teams are to supply their own ball. WNC can provide bibs on request.
- Please make sure all players and umpires are in appropriate footwear.
Umpires & Team Duties
Please check the draw for umpire & team duties. All teams need to supply their own umpire.
Scoring
- Scoring will be done via the Netball New Zealand Scoring App:
- MyNetball Manager on the App Store or Google play
- Instructions on how to use the app are available on the WNC website.
- Access codes will be sent to each team prior to the competition.
- It is each team’s responsibility to have a scorer present and standing side-by-side with the opposition’s scorer.
Draws
- Draws will be available on our website: Whangarei Netball Centre – Draws & Results
- All teams and umpires must check into control prior to their game
Team Composition
- Each team has 5 players on court:
- GS – Goal Shooter
- GA – Goal Attack
- C – Centre
- GD – Goal Defence
- GK – Goalkeeper
Mixed Team Rule
- A maximum of two (2) male players may be on court at any time.
- Males must be positioned in different thirds of the court:
- One in the attacking third (GS or GA)
- One in the defensive third (GD or GK)
Centre Pass Rule
- The team that did not score the last goal will take the next centre pass.
- A coin toss at the start of the match determines initial centre passes:
- Winner of toss: Centre pass in Q1 and Q3
- Loser of toss: Centre pass in Q2 and Q4
- Matches are played in 4 x 6-minute quarters
- There is a 1-minute break between each quarter
Two-Point Shots
- Two-point shots are included in this series, following the FAST5 format.
- The two-point zone begins at 3.5 metres from the goal post and will be marked.
- Goals scored from outside this zone will be awarded two points.
