Keen to play a role in shaping Northland’s next netball stars?
Netball Northern is calling for Expressions of Interest from passionate individuals in Northland who would like to join the Netball Northern scouting group in 2025.

This group plays a vital role in identifying emerging players with the potential to develop into future performance and high-performance athletes. Scouts will be active across the Northern Zone, including key events in Northland and beyond.

What You’ll Gain

Scouts receive professional development focused on Northern Zone's talent identification philosophy and processes. Whether you're experienced or new to scouting, this is a great chance to contribute meaningfully to Northland’s netball pathway—starting with your own local centre.

Join us Monday, May 12 for a workshop all about spotting and selecting talent for the future. Open to anyone across the Northern Zone, it’s perfect for current or aspiring scouts and selectors. Email us for more information.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Are curious or passionate about talent identification
  • Have coaching experience (or currently coach)
  • Have played at a high level
  • Understand the long-term nature of athlete development
  • Can spot potential and are willing to share insights
  • Want to support local players through collaboration and data collection

 

Where You’ll Scout

As a scout, you’ll attend competitions such as:

  • Local netball centre games (school and club level)
  • Representative tournaments in Northland
  • School tournaments across the Northern Zone

Additional national events include:

  • National U18 Tournament
  • National Open Age Tournament
  • UNISS (Upper North Island Secondary Schools Champs)
  • National Netball League (NNL) matches

 

How to Apply

Send a short email outlining why you're interested, along with a brief summary of your netball background (coaching, playing, etc.) to manager@whangareinetball.co.nz by April 28, 2025.
