Volunteers Wanted!!

With the end of each season comes the planning for the following season!  Without the hard work of our volunteers each year they would never be so successful, and with over 2,000 members WNC are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers.

If you are interested in helping to grow the Netball community in Whangarei then WNC want to hear from you.  We are always ooking to fill a number of positions each season so we invite all potential volunteers to register their interest and find out more about the following areas.

Knowledge of and passion for netball is necessary but more importantly is the committment to grow Netball for our members.

This includes:

  • Player Mentors for our Representative Programme
    Be there to support the Representative players through the demands of the programme.  Offer advice and support outside of the team environment to help the player grow as a whole.
  • Bench Officials for Premier Grade (training provided)
    Bench Officials have an important role to play in our game.  They are responsible for the accurate recording of the score, player statistics and the timing of the game.


  • Good Sport Ambassadors
    Help out on a Saturday to grow and maintain a positive netball community.  Spreading messages of encouragement for our Coaches, Players, Umpires and Supporters and redress negative experiences.


  • Coach Mentors
    Be there to support coaches of all levels throughout all our competition areas i.e. FutureFERNS, Intermediate, Seniors, College, Representative, Year 7 & 8 Programme.  Help to develop a sharing and supportive for Coaches to share experiences and problem solve.

  • Junior Helpers
    Help and support those parents/grandparents/caregivers/friends and anyone else who gets rope into coaching a FutureFERNS team.  This requires commitment to a Saturday morning but is very rewarding and of course who doesn’t love watching our young ones grow and develop as players.More information at the “FutureFERNS” table including an overview of the roles.
  • Leadership Mentors
    Work with the Netball Development Officer to develop the Leadership participants who are passionate in sport, and interested in contributing to their Netball Centre as potential coaches, umpires or administrators or as Elite players.
  • Year 7 & 8 Coaches and Trainers
    Work with the Netball Development Officer to develop Year 7 & 8 Players of all levels, you are passionate about netball and want to increase their skills and knowledge of the game and how to be a better Netballer.  This is a great place to start your journey as a Coach in a supportive and development focused environment.
  • Administrators
    WNC are always on the look out for anyone who can offer some assistance with the administration duties within Reps, Year 7/8 Programme or the general competition.
  • First Aid / Physio
    WNC would love to be able to offer a onsite First Aid and/or Physio service for all competitions, if this is something you are able to help with in a volunteer role contact WNC for more information and a discussion on the services that could be offered.
